Kickoff Meeting for SENTAN-Q 7th Term Held Online
The kickoff meeting for the seventh term of the Diversity Super Global Faculty Development Program (SENTAN-Q) was held online on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. SENTAN-Q was launched following its selection for MEXT’s 2019 “Initiative for Realizing Diversity in the Research Environment (Advanced Type).” The program aims to foster highly capable and internationally competitive faculty members—particularly promising women and early-career researchers with outstanding achievements—who can excel on the global stage as Diversity Super Global Faculty. Following the conclusion of the project period, the program will continue as an independent initiative of our university from fiscal year 2025.
This kickoff meeting marked the beginning of training for the seven individuals selected as seventh-term trainees in September 2025. It was held online to provide both stakeholders and interested members of the public with an opportunity to learn more about the program’s objectives and activities. More than 30 participants from inside and outside the university attended the event.
At the opening, President Tatsuro Ishibashi offered congratulatory remarks to the trainees, expressed his gratitude to the guests, and shared his expectations for the trainees’ future contributions. Ms. Yasuko Yamamura, Program Officer at the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), then delivered her own congratulatory remarks, expressing anticipation for the program’s wide-reaching impact across other universities.
Following the opening remarks, each of the seventh-term trainees introduced themselves and shared their aspirations for the upcoming training. Subsequently, Professor and Executive Director Sonoda, Program Coordinator and Vice President Tamada, and Professor Jotaki from the Office for the Promotion of Gender Equality gave an overview of the SENTAN-Q program. During the Q&A session, trainees asked a range of questions about the program, demonstrating their strong motivation and enthusiasm.
We have high expectations that faculty members who gain international competitiveness and global competence through this program will make significant contributions toward establishing our university as a world-class hub for research and education.
