SENTAN-Q Eighth-Term Kick-off Meeting Held Online

The kick-off meeting for the eighth term of SENTAN-Q (Super Global Faculty Development Program for Diversity) was held online on October 7, 2026.

SENTAN-Q was launched following its selection for MEXT’s 2019 “Initiative for Realizing Diversity in the Research Environment (Advanced Type).” The program aims to foster highly capable and internationally competitive faculty members—particularly promising women and early-career researchers with outstanding achievements—who can excel on the global stage as Diversity Super Global Faculty. Following the conclusion of the project period, the program will continue as an independent initiative of our university from fiscal year 2025.

This kickoff meeting marked the beginning of training for the four individuals selected as eighth-term trainees in September 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for participants to gain a deeper understanding of the program’s objectives and training framework.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Aya Okada, Executive Vice President, delivered congratulatory remarks and expressed her expectations for the new trainees. The four participants then introduced themselves and shared their aspirations for the two-year program.

Subsequently, Dr. Tamada, former coordinator of the SENTAN-Q program and Executive Vice President, and Professor Kawano from the Office for the Promotion of Gender Equality, provided an overview of the program, including its training components and support systems. During the question-and-answer session, participants actively raised questions regarding various aspects of the program, demonstrating their strong motivation and enthusiasm for the training ahead.

Through this program, Kyushu University expects to cultivate faculty members with enhanced international competitiveness and global leadership skills who will contribute to advancing the University’s research and education activities and strengthening its position as a world-leading academic institution.
